Couch to 5K

Ever thought about running but didn’t know where to start? Well come along to our next couch 2 5km course and we will get you up and running….literally!! Our courses are run by qualified (and friendly) run leaders and last 8 weeks, we will support you every step of the way. We set off from the Rugby Club on Haslams Lane at 6.15pm and the cost is £20.

Our most recent course started on 15th May so look out for the date for our next course.


I never thought I’d be able to run any sort of distance and nervously joined the couch25k. Running in a group with the support of Derwent Runners made it so much more enjoyable. I have discovered a love of running and am now aiming to enter a 10k this summer and become an official Derwent Runner. Apr 1, 2016

I did the couch to 5km. Thouroughly enjoyed it, got my fitness and stamina back and it’s improving weekly, lost a bit of weight from it too, and the best of it is, I’ve carried it on to the Tuesday night 4 mile group which I’m hoping to continue.

It couldn’t be easier to get running!

We are a members club and the Couch to 5k is run by qualified volunteers – all funds go back into the club in order to offer free training to our members in order to maintain & improve Derwent Runners. Thankyou.

I hereby confirm that i participate in the Derwent Runners beginners group completely at my own risk and state that I do not hold the organisers responsible for any injury loss or accident incurred.

I accept that i may be running on the highways, pavements and roads and agree to take full responsibility for following the Highway Code when running.

I confirm that I do not know of any medical or physical reason why I should not participate in the group. If I am unsure of my suitability I will gain permission from my doctor. If i develop any new relevant medical or physical condtion I will inform the organisers of the group.
